FAQ

Q: WHY SHOULD I WORK WITH Beyond and Back?

Beyond and Back has been sending business and vacation travelers around the world 40 years and our team of advisers have personally visited 137 countries on 6 different continents.

We combine our experience and our industry relationships to create unique and exceptional travel experiences for each and every one of our clients. Our clients know what it means to travel better.

Q: What is Travel Leaders?

Our relationship with Travel Leaders Group allows us to leverage over $20 billion in buying power and opens the door to partnerships with thousands of travel providers to get you the best value on cruises, flights, hotels, tours, and ground transportation.

It also enables us to offer all sorts of value added amenities, like our SELECT Hotel program, Distinctive Voyages, extra amenities on certain cruise departures, and more.

Q: Should I purchase travel insurance?

Beyond and Back highly recommends purchasing travel insurance, as it protects your travel investment, health, belongings and vacation memories before and during your vacation. Most travel insurance plans cover trip cancellation, interruption or delays, medical, dental, emergency medical transportation, lost luggage, missed connections, itinerary changes and more.

Q: DO YOU CHARGE A TRIP DESIGN or other fees?

Yes, we charge a trip design fee for custom itineraries. Our fee varies based on the complexity of the trip, but you'll always know exactly what it will be, upfront and with no suprises.

We're professionals and invest a lot of time utilizing our expertise and obsess over every detail to design the perfect trip for you. Think of us like you would think of an interior designer who spends a lot of time applying their experience and judgment to consult with you on your design project. They deliver well curated options, implement them beautifully, and make changes along the way until you have a result that exceeds your expectations.

There are a lot of small details that go into planning a perfect trip that you’re might not be thinking about – but you'll notice when they’re done right.

We do get paid commission from some travel suppliers, but our travel advisers are paid on a salary and don’t get paid commission. They’re not sales people – they are advisers. That means they are going to design the best trip to suit you and they won’t try to persuade you into buying things just because a supplier is going to pay us commission. There are plenty of travel sales people out there that work for ‘free’ because they sell their ‘clients’ things that pay them the best commissions – that’s not who we are. Talk to us about your next trip and we’re confident that you’ll be able to tell the difference immediately.

Q: Can I Get A Better Deal Online?

We spend all day every day researching travel and planning trips – chances are if you found something on the internet, we can find it, too. If you are looking for the cheapest vacation, we may not be right for you. If you are looking for a perfect vacation where you get the most value for the money you invest, we definitely are for you.

That being said, we often times do end up saving our clients a lot of money. Leveraging our partnerships, we have access to special pricing for certian cruises, air and tour packages, hotels, all-inclusive resorts and car rentals that you won't be able to get online. We see the same prices you do online, but we often can also get you special amenities, perks, and extras that you won’t be able to get yourself.

Q: Do you recommend basic economy air or other discount carriers?

We generally don’t recommend purchasing basic economy (or “unbundled”) airline tickets and as a matter of policy we generally don’t quote them or sell them unless specifically requested or they are the best fit for the required itinerary. Given the added costs associated with all of the ‘extras’ like seats and bags, plus their restrictive exchange rules, they very rarely make sense. The same goes for domestic discount carriers like Frontier and Spirit. With limited schedules and ability to get you where you need to go in the case of a flight delay or cancellation, flying on a discount carrier rarely makes sense (See Why).

Online travel sites, such as Google Flights and Kayak, show the cheapest fares available which are usually basic economy fares. If comparing a price we have quoted to results you see from searching online, please keep this in mind.
